What good is there in collecting something and not share it with others with the same interest as yours?

The objective of this blog is to share songs not commercially available anymore, for music is the language of the soul and it must not be forgotten.

FATS ELPÍDIO

Homenagem a Zequinha de Abreu (1959)

Elpídio Salles Meneses Pessoa (07/07/1913, Paudalho, PE) or simply Fats Elpídio, learned how to play the piano with his father at the age of eight.  In 1930 he moved to Recife, PE, and started playing the piano for Jonas Silva, in his orchestra.  From 1932 to 1935 he performed on Radio Stations and Clubs in Recife, with the Irmãos Pessoa (Pessoa Brothers), a group made of members from his family: his father, mother and brother, Pernambuco (Aires Pessoa).  In 1937 he went to Rio de Janeiro, hired by the Romeu Silva Orchestra, playing at the Cassino Beira-Mar, and touring through Argentina in that same year.  A great lover of Jazz, he promoted the I Jazz Concert in Rio de Janeiro, at the Fluminense Futebol Club.  From 1939, after he left the Romeu Silva Orchestra, until 1941, he was part of the Fon-Fon Orchestra, which also toured through Argentina.  Then he worked with the Conductor Zacharias for ten years (1945-1955), touring with him to Uruguay; he also performed, between 1953 and 1954 at the Boite Vogue, with Moacyr Silva.  In 1956, as a musician from the Copinha Orchestra, he worked at the Copacabana Palace Hotel.  He also worked with Severino Ajaújo's Orquestra Tabajara, from 1969 to 1972, when he performed together with Eliana Pittman, at the Teatro Casa Grande, in Rio de Janeiro. 1. It's been a long time that I've been planning to post this one, but as being an EP, it was postponed, until it was finally posted.
      I'm happy you liked it!
      Thanks.
